Sound and music.
For the sound and music of our film we have decided to take inspiration from soundtracks used in films such as Silence of the Lambs and Psycho, this is because we believe them to be extremely effective in terms of creating a tense and hostile atmosphere , however as the situation is rather comical at the same time, it is important that this is also conveyed through the choice of music.
We took inspiration from the escape scene from silence of the lambs in which Hannibal Lector escapes his prison cell. In this scene, Bach plays in the background creating a serene and harmonious atmosphere which is contrasted to the violence being portrayed on screen.
We have also, as mentioned above, taken inspiration from the film Psycho and the score used on the film psycho, this sound track creates an eerie and almost tranquil atmosphere as the killer speaks to himself. We believe this would be effective at the end of our short film when Patrick Maloney gets away with the murder of his wife.
We have also considered having one of these tracks playing throughout the short film from the radio i the kitchen but becoming silent whenever Patrick kills Mary with the leg of lamb however in order to do this we would have to dub it over the scene in the edit as we are unable to actually play it through a radio.
